Autism Affirmation Session

This service is designed for folks who are somewhere on their self-diagnosis journey. Likely, they have done a lot of reading and had some ‘aha’ moments. Perhaps they have been able to reflect on some patterns throughout their life and feel that an Autism lens lets them see things in a new light.

At the same time, they have moments of self-dismissal, thinking they are ‘not disabled enough’ or something similar. A professional opinion can be an anchor in these moments of doubt, however a full assessment might not feel affordable or necessary.

The Autism Affirmation Session is for this niche group of people - those needing a third party opinion but not quite feeling that a formal diagnosis is required or helpful.

The cost for this service is $400 and can be booked using the link below. Scroll down for further details of what’s included in this service.

What’s Included

1

Psychometric Testing

When you book your session, I will send you four questionnaires to complete before we meet. These are the main questionnaires I use in a standard Autism Assessment.

They are:

  • The Autism Quotient (AQ)

  • The Social Responsiveness Scale 3rd Edition (SRS-3)

  • The Comprehensive Autistic Trait Inventory (CATI)

  • The Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire (CATQ)

I may send other questionnaires after we meet if I need further diagnostic clarification.

2

In-person Session

The session goes for 1 hour and is held in-person in Collingwood. I will ask a little about what made you book in for the session, take your history and conduct a brief assessment.

This includes:

  • A lot of Autism-related questions

  • Questions to rule out alternative explanations for your presentation

  • Clinical observations of your presentation in the room

3

Letter of Clinical Opinion

Within a week of our session, I will send you a 2-3 page letter confirming my clinical opinion as to whether Autism is likely the best explanation for your presentation. This will include some references to what I observed in our session, as well as the results of the tests you completed. This is not a formal diagnosis, but many GPs and healthcare providers will take this letter seriously if you need to advocate for yourself in a healthcare setting.

I will also provide recommended readings and a small booklet of suggested supports to explore.
