Starting Therapy
Getting started can be the hardest part of therapy. Will it help? Can I trust this person? What if we don’t click? To help you decide whether I am the right fit for you, you can take a look at my bio on the ‘About Me’ page, and then send through an enquiry if you have some specific questions you would like answered before proceeding. There will never be any pressure for you to make a booking, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions that might help you make a decision.
Intake Process
1
Get in touch
We are a neuro-affirming practice, and as such most of communications are done via email. Please get in touch via admin@eospsychology.com with a brief description of what you’re needing help with.
You will hear from Lucy within 2 business days.
2
Quick Phone consult
During this 15 minute phone call, Lucy will get some more information about what you need help with, what you’ve tried before, and what you think might be helpful now. She can then make some suggestions about whether our practice is the right fit for you and provide details of other services if that seems like a good idea.
3
Initial appointment
In the initial appointment we will get more details on what brings you to therapy, and perhaps we might talk a little about your family and your background.
If this initial consultation reveals that I am unlikely to be helpful to you, I will refer you to a suitable colleague that has the right skill-set to help you. This doesn’t happen often, but I feel it’s important that you are placed with the right person.
FAQs
What if we’re not the right fit?
Fit between therapist and client is one of the most important factors for good therapy. During the intake process, I will let you know if there are any potential issues with the fit, and provide referrals to other services if I think you would be better serviced elsewhere.
I’m not sure if my issue is serious enough to see a psychologist?
Interesting! This probably means there is plenty to talk about. If you are feeling the urge to go to therapy, there is most likely something there for us to unpack.
